Preserving this amazing breed here in Australia, our breeding program includes direct imported lines straight from Europe, ​American & ​New Zealand.

Our dogs are family dogs first and foremost, but we do also have dogs in working homes and show homes.

our mission is to preserve the American Bulldog here in Australia.
Always breeding to improve and better the breed through each generation, we hope to produce some of the best American Bulldogs Australia has to offer, whilst always staying true to the breed.​

Our History

I (Shari) have loved American Bulldogs for many years now, even before I knew what the breed actually was. I remember watching the movie Homeward Bound as a little girl and always saying to my mum that 'I want a dog like Chance'.

​I met my first American Bulldog in 2009.
That is when I first made the connection and realised that this was Chance, this was the breed that I had loved since I was 4 years old.
​After meeting him I knew that the American Bulldog was definitely the breed for me, and one day soon I would have one to call my own.

In early 2011 we purchased our first American Bulldog.
We fell in love with him so much that we soon decided to add another to the family.

Whilst looking for another bulldog to join our family, we soon realised that there was so much more to this breed and a lot that we still had to learn. After doing lots of research, understanding the different types, finding out more about the breed history and talking to a few breeders, we knew exactly what we wanted and what we needed to build up a great foundation for starting our very own breeding program.

We hope that with these dogs, and the dogs we have imported, that we can get to where we want to with our mission of improving and preserving this amazing breed here in Australia.

Our Kennel

Our dogs are family dogs first and foremost.
Raised in our home, they are stable and active dogs who are open and friendly with everyone they meet - 95% of our puppies go to family homes with children.
They can be hanging out with the family one minute, then go out hunting the next. They really are an all-round breed that can really do it all.

Theora American Bulldogs was officially founded in 2011.
After being in the breed for so many years and seeing the quality and the standard of the American Bulldog drastically drop, we felt the need to help and work alongside those very few breeders out there who are actually looking out for the future of the breed here in Australia.
Here at Theora American Bulldogs we want to do the right thing, not only for our own dogs and future generations, but for the breed as a whole.

We have Imported semen from proven American Bulldog studs, both in the field and in the show ring, from Germany and America, to include in our breeding program.
​We have also imported an amazing bitch from New Zealand who has some very old bloodlines behind her.
With a few of our dogs also being from imported lines, we are able to out-cross and then tightly line-breed to help build up a great, consistent and true to type foundation, to then start our very own line.

Our Theora American Bulldog family is always growing with enthusiastic, like-minded bulldoggers all over Australia. who are joining forces with us and co-owning our dogs. They are willing to help us in our mission of improving and preserving what's left of this amazing breed here in Australia.
Our kennel and our breeding program wouldn't exist without our co-own families.
