Our Breeding Program
Breeding Better Bulldogs!
Our Aim |
Here at Theora American Bulldogs we breed for Health, Temperament & Performance.
Our aim is to improve this amazing breed by selectively choosing the best quality lines here in Australia and Overseas to include in our breeding program. Our kennel aim to produce social, sound and confident Standard type American Bulldogs suitable for the family and working home. We have one goal in mind and that is to always better the breed through each generation, whilst always staying true to the breed. |
Health Testing |
All of our dogs are health tested before any mating's take place and we only use other health tested dogs to include in our breeding program.
* Hips x-rayed/scored for dysplasia - HD * Elbows x-rayed/scored for dysplasia - ED * Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis - NCL * Ichthyosis - ICH * DNA profiled. When looking for a new puppy to join your family, Please make sure that you are asking breeders if they health test their dogs before any mating's take place. Also, make sure you ask for proof of their dogs health test results. Health testing and providing such information should not be a problem for any reputable breeder. Being transparent with potential new puppy owners is one think that we are passionate about here at Theora American Bulldogs. Our dogs health testing results are listed publicly on their individual profiles. |
Striving For |
We strive to produce some of the best American bulldogs Australia has to offer.
We aim to produce dogs that are bred true to type and temperament and that can fulfil the duties of a well-rounded American Bulldog. From family pets and companions, to hunting and farm utility dogs, or even show champions. Our dog have proven themselves in all aspects of the breed. |
Breeding |
Our females are only bred with selectively chosen stud dogs, from here in Australia and Overseas, that will complement them well and correct any faults they may have.
When looking for a stud dog to include in our breeding program, we look for good conformation, nice pigmentation around the eyes/nose/lips, a well balanced temperament and a willingness to please and work. As we are a small kennel, we only have one litter a year, sometimes two, but not very often. Please also bare in mind that we breed our dogs for ourselves. If we have a breeding lined up than we will be keeping and/or placing a puppy from that breeding into a home under co-ownership, to hopefully include and to better our breeding program later on. Any available puppies from our breeding's are sold as Pets Only - No breeding rights. |
Our Puppies |
Our puppies are raised in our home and are safely socialised from a young age.
We let them interact with our other older dogs, our cats and young children, so that they have a well balanced temperament suitable for a family home. We have built an enrichment area for our puppies to help with their early imprinting stage. We have different surfaces, sounds, obstacles and tunnels for our puppies to run and play on. This helps with your puppies confidence and prepares them for when they are out in the real world. We also have our puppies temperament tested at around 7 weeks of age. We like to do this just before we make our final decisions on who we will be keeping back to include in our breeding program, and to see which puppies will be the most suitable for you and your family. None of our puppies leave our care till they are at least 8 weeks of age. They are up to date with vaccinations, de-wormed regularly, been treated for fleas and are microchipped. Our puppies only go to the best and most suitable homes. We have the right to refuse anyone of the purchase of our puppies if we feel that they are not suitable. |
